Pinoy Big Brother Reveals Slum-Inspired House and New Housemates
The 13 official housemates of “Pinoy Big Brother Unlimited” were finally revealed on Saturday night, October 29, but the biggest shock was the new look of the Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) house.
Completely different from previous seasons, the housemates entered a PBB house reminiscent of slum settlements. According to Kuya, they will have to live like the 15 million Filipinos living in shanties and in very poor conditions.
There is Jaz Manabat, the Sensual Siren of QC, a mesmerizing model who has a boyfriend of five years, and Slater Young, the Hotshot Engineer of Cebu, a privileged civil engineer who works for his father and hopes to become mature inside the PBB house.
The Captain’s Daughter of QC, Tin Patrimonio, the home-schooled daughter of basketball superstar Alvin Patrimonio, has yet to learn how to mingle well with other people. There is the Bay Diskarte of Ormoc, Kigoy Abarico, who ran away from his family and lived most of his life on the streets, and the Sales Lakay of Pangasinan, Roy Gamboa, a direct seller who struggled to provide a comfortable for his family.
Joining them are Luz McMclinton, the Mom of Steel of Muntinlupa, the struggling but wacky Pamu Pamorada, the Kitikiti Kid of Batangas, fisherman Joseph, the Promdihirang Tisoy of Marinduque, and tattoo artist Divine Maitland-Smith, the Darling Dude of Cebu and Kuya’s first openly lesbian housemate.
The Stunning Sweetheart of Olongapo, Kim De Guzman, hopes to find and get to know his biological father, while the Hopeless Romantic of Gensan, Paco Evangelista, wants to start anew after living through his life’s hardest challenges.
Meanwhile, Seichang Ushimi, the Pinoy Anime of Japan and Kevin Fowler, the Dreamboy of California, both born and raised in other countries, would like to reconnect with their Filipino roots by joining the reality show.
Aside from the 13 official housemates, 30 “reserved” housemates also graced last night’s “PBB Unlimited: The Big Fiesta” in which a lucky Carlo Romero, a retail sales consultant from Chicago, was given the chance to enter the house when his number was drawn in a lottery.
Carlo will have to accomplish four tasks this week so he can stay in the house and be an official housemate.
Meanwhile, this season’s guaranteed unlimited experience set off last night when Paco, Slater, and Luz were asked to go inside the confession room and choose which basic necessity they would want to have an unlimited supply of, but with corresponding consequences: water, food, or clothes.
Don’t miss the exciting developments in “Pinoy Big Brother Unlimited” with Toni Gonzaga and Bianca Gonzales weeknights after “Nasaan Ka, Elisa?” and Robi Domingo in “PBB Unlimited Updates” during “Maria La Del Barrio” and “100 Days to Heaven” on ABS-CBN.
Continue watching “PBB Unlimited: The Audition Stories,” 4 p.m. on Kapamilya Gold and get to know more about the housemates by visiting pinoybigbrother.com. For the program’s updates, follow his Secretary on Twitter at @OfficialPBB4 or subscribe to www.facebook.com/OfficialPinoyBigBrother.
DOLE Sec. Baldoz graced opening of 1st Career Fair at the Eastwood City
Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz has cited the private sector for its effort to create better access to job opportunities and to contribute actively to employment generation through the conduct of job fairs. Speaking at the ribbon-cutting ceremony opening the 1st Career Fair at the Eastwood City complex, the labor and employment chief said that the private sector has been the real engine of the economy in creating jobs. In her message, Baldoz encouraged jobseekers, companies and organizers of the job fair to lin up with the DOLE’s nationwide network of Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) found in local governments and schools to facilitate better job and skills matching processes and results. To facilitate hiring during job fairs, Baldoz advised jobseekers to have the self-confidence and all pertinent documents and requirements ready, adding that they should not be discouraged if found unqualified, but should instead pursue appropriate skills retooling and upgrading. Baldoz also encouraged the participating companies to hire on-the-spot (HOTS) more qualified jobseekers. At the same time, she urged jobseekers and companies to link up with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, the DOLE’s agency in charge of HRD, to avail of appropriate training to ensure that they are qualified for jobs available in the growing call center and other industries of the country. Baldoz was joined in the job fair by two executive officials of the organizers, Megaworld first vice president for business development Jericho Go, and commercial division head Mr. Kevin Tan. According to the organizers, while the career fair did not target a definite quantity of opportunities, they were pleased that more than 20 top-line companies decided to join. On top of call center jobs, opportunities from a diverse array of industries abound, including customer care, banking, digital services, information and communications technology, food service, real estate and resorts, and tourism. With JobsDB.com and The Philippine Star as co-sponsors, the more than 20 companies that participated in the fair were Acquire Asia Pacific, Concentrix-Synnex Corporation, Hinduja Global Solutions, Banco de Oro, Chinabank Corporation, Citibank, VCustomer, Canon, Dell Inc., HP, IBM, Siemens, Stream Global, Thakral One it, Yell Adworks, Coca-Cola Bottlers Phil. Go said that the 1st Career Fair is a hallmark event for the thriving Eastwood City, as he recalled that the booming area was built by jobs. “Eastwood City began with only some 1,000 workers,” Go said, adding that, “now it is approaching 35,000 to 40,000 workers and we are looking at the range of 50,000 productive people soon as the complex expands alongside other investments in the metropolis and the Philippines.”
JEFF CANOY GETS HIS FIRSTHAND PARANORMAL EXPERIENCE
Full press release after the jump...
PRESS RELEASE FROM ABS-CBN:
ABS-CBN news reporter Jeff Canoy gets his firsthand experience with the paranormal in tomorrow’s edition of the award-winning documentary “Patrol ng Pilipino,” wherein he explores the Filipinos’ fondness for ghost stories, cultural practices in remembering the dead, and brings in paranormal experts to help a grieving Mom communicate with her four-year old girl who was raped and killed early this year.
“Doing the documentary is an eye-opener for me and the production team. We are going to show the different, if not opposing, perspectives of believers and non-believers,” said Jeff, who is nominated for Outstanding News Magazine Program host at the 2011 Golden Screen TV Awards.
While the mother of a rape victim was narrating how her slain child has been making her presence felt at their home, Jeff and his production team felt an uncanny presence as the windows in the house started to open and close.
In tomorrow’s episode (Nov 1), Jeff talks to a grandfather who has been waiting and wanting to feel the presence of his departed wife, brings paranormal experts to a place that is believed to be a dumping site of slain victims once to check if there are wandering spirits, and traces the country’s rich history in examining Filipinos’ norms, customs, and beliefs about the dead and how they pay respect to their departed loved ones.
Jeff will examine all angles through interviews with paranormal experts, Church leaders, sociologists, historians, and scientists for “Patrol ng Piliino,” a contender for Outstanding News Magazine Program in the 2011 Golden Screen TV Awards. The program won Best TV Public Affairs Program at the 20th KBP Golden Dove Awards and received a Special Citation for Best News Magazine Program at the 33rd Catholic Mass Media Awards.
Patrol ng Pilipino airs tonight after Bandila on ABS-CBN or catch it earlier on DZMM TeleRadyo at 9:15 pm.

Ram Revilla, actor and son of former Senator Ramon Revilla Sr. and Genelyn Magsaysay, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Parañaque Medical Center on Saturday, October 29, 2011, early morning after being shot and stabbed in his home in Parañaque City.
He was 22.
Ram, who once appeared in ABS-CBN’s “Tonyong Bayawak” and GMA’s “Kamandag,” was gunned with a 9 mm or a .45 caliber gun and was stabbed, according to Sen. Bong Revilla, half-brother of Ram Revilla, citing a police report.
“Wala akong alam na may kagalit ito. Ang alam ko, gusto niya...nagaambisyon siya na tumakbo na konsehal sa bayan ng Imus," Bong cited.
“Mabait na tao ito, wala akong masabing masama. Paborito ng daddy ko 'to,” Bong added.
Bong also noted that robbery is not the motive as nothing has been taken from the house.
“Sobra ang galit para gawin ‘to,” he added.

Raymart Santiago and Claudine Barretto Release Statement Denying Separation Rumor
Every news has its two versions of the story. In the recent controversy surrounding their marriage, (estranged?) couple Raymart Santiago and Claudine Barretto decided to issue a joint statement refuting their rumored separation (read related news HERE), 1 day after the news has gone out of public.
Here is the full statement coming directly from Raymart and Claudine:
In recent days, there have been numerous negative rumors about our marriage and our relationship, all of which have caused us, our children, and our families undue stress, strain, and unnecessary tension.
"In order to dispel all these unfounded innuendos, we now publicly declare, in the simplest and clearest terms that:
"WE ARE STILL TOGETHER, we have not separated, we love each other, and we both value and cherish our marriage and relationship.
"Any issues that we may have are private, and do not detract from, nor diminish, the strength of our marriage. We ask that the public allow us to deal with our minor concerns without the glare and glee of media speculation that only hurt us and those we love.
"We are both deeply committed to our two (2) children, whom we love unconditionally. As concerned and devoted parents, we shall zealously protect their privacy, and their right to be untouched by malice and gossip. We plead with the public to respect their rights: they are innocent children unjustly harmed by the baseless gossip about us.
"We hope this JOINT STATEMENT settles and lays to rest all questions about us as a couple, and as individuals."

Lindsay Lohan To Pose Nude In Playboy For $1 Million
Reports said Lindsay Lohan, an American actress, pop singer and model, was offered an initial $750K to pose nude in an upcoming issue of Playboy Magazine but she wanted $1 million "to show the world what her momma gave her."
TMZ reported that LiLo, who has faced numerous legal charges in recent years including theft, will appear in the men's magazine and that a photo shoot had in fact already taken place.
LiLo's mother, Dina Lohan, told the website X17online.com "the photo shoot went well," at a Beverly Hills mansion.
"If Lindsay does in fact make it to the pages of Playboy, it will likely provide a much needed spark for both entities" Buzzle said. "However, it's unlikely that it will be enough for either party to regain mainstream relevance. And that is especially true for Lindsay, who seems to be rapidly approaching the end of the line."

Inc., Emperador Distillers Inc., McDonald’s, Resorts World Manila, and also Megaworld Corporation. Following Baldoz’s message, Megaworld FVP Go thanked the Labor Secretary for her presence during the occasion signifying government’s unwavering support for jobs growth in the country’s industries.
SUV of the Year 2011 Goes to Range Rover Evoque SUV
SUV of the Year 2011 Goes to Range Rover Evoque SUV
Motor Trend magazine named Land Rover's Range Rover Evoque as SUV of the Year.
The Evoque is a major departure for the British SUV maker, famous for the legendary off-road prowess of its large, luxury SUVs. Powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and with a six-speed automatic transmission, the Evoque is tuned more for on-road performance and fuel economy. It gets an EPA-estimated 28 miles per gallon in highway driving, making it the most fuel-efficient Land Rover vehicle.
Only vehicles that are all-new or have been substantially redesigned and re-engineered for the 2012 model year were eligible for the award.
The finalists for the award included three Chrysler Group models. They were the Jeep Wrangler and the Dodge Durango and Journey.
Other finalists for the award were the BMW X3, the Ford Explorer, the Mercedes-Benz M-Class, the Mini Cooper Countryman, the Saab 9-4X and the Volkswagen Touareg.
"With its dramatic styling, refined on-road manners, and impressive off-road ability, the Evoque sets the benchmark for the fast-growing compact luxury SUV class," Motor Trend Editor-in-Chief Angus McKenzie said in a statement. "Land Rover has a worldwide hit on its hands with the Range Rover Evoque."
The magazine's editors were especially impressed with the car's on-road performance, McKenzie said, and with the fact that its sleek design didn't compromise interior space and comfort.
Motor Trend's editorial staff selected vehicles based on advancement in design, engineering excellence, efficiency, safety and value. Testing involved a week-long process including precisely measured track tests and "real-world" driving.
Motor Trend gives out three vehicle awards - SUV of the Year, Car of the Year and Truck of the Year - annually. Motor Trend's Car of the Year will be announced in November.
Formerly owned by Ford Motor Co., (F, Fortune 500) Land Rover was sold to India's Tata Motors (TTM) in 2008, along with its sister-brand Jaguar.

19 Soldiers Killed, 10 Missing in Basilan Encounter with MILF and Abu Sayyaf
Nineteen government soldiers were killed while 10 others went missing in a gunbattle with the combined group of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Abu Sayyaf members on Tuesday, October 18, 2011.
According to ABS-CBN News, fighting erupted at dawn between a military special forces unit and MILF troops on the southern island of Basilan, said the regional military spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Randolph Cabangbang.
Cabangbang said the military suffered 13 casualties, while 12 were wounded, it added. In its latest ABS-CBN News update, it now reached 19 casualties and 12 wounded.
“The encounter took several hours. You cannot discount the possibility that the relatives, cousins, grandchildren or neighbors, will join the firefight,” Lieutenant Colonel Randy Cabangbang said.

Moammar Gadhafi, a deposed Libyan leader, has been killed, interim Libyan Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril told reporters in Tripoli on Thursday.
There are conflicting reports surrounding the circumstances of his killing, which reportedly happened in or near Gadhafi’s hometown of Sirte on Thursday. Libya’s ambassador to the United Kingdom says that Gadhafi’s body is in Misrata, Libya.
Another source – a spokesman for a member of the Tripoli military council – says that one of Gadhafi’s sons, Mutassim, and Moammar Gadhafi’s chief of intelligence, Abdullah al-Senussi, also have been killed.
